Electronic Nose

Abstract:
This Report is an introduction to
Artificial Neural networks. It also deals
with an interesting application of neural
network called “Electronic Nose”.

Electronic/artificial noses are being developed as systems for the automated detection and classification of
odors, vapors, and gases. An electronic nose is generally composed of a chemical sensing system (e.g., sensor array or spectrometer) and a pattern recognition system (e.g., artificial neural

RFID Based Airport Baggage Collection

Abstract: The Radio Frequency Identification is used to collect the baggage of the passengers in the easier way. The radio frequency waves are employed to identify the bags of the passengers. RFID reader is employed to get the information from the RFID tags. The RFID tags are attached to the bags of the passengers. The tags contain different types of codes like ten digit numbers (approximately). The computer system contains the information of the particular passengers corresponding to the particular codes in the RFID tags. The codes in the tags are received by the RFID reader and those codes are sent to the system. The details of the passengers are stored correspondingly to the codes.

The information about the passengers is sent through the PIC16F877 to the LCD display. MAX232 IC is used for the two way communication between the PIC16F877 and the system. Then the information of the passenger is displayed according to the order of the bags coming in the conveyor belt. The passengers will collect their bags according to the order in the display. By this passengers can avoid mishandling of baggage. The RFID has the ability to read at longer distances and around challenging environments, to store large amounts of data on the tag, to integrate with sensors and to communicate with external devices.

An Embedded Systems Approach In Designing An Automated Vending Machine

Abstract: An embedded approach in designing a automated vending machine using image processing for currency recognition. Automation had become time-sharing, fast and sophisticated approach in both Public Sector Units and Private Sector Units today. From computerized billing machine in a small shop to a missile launching process, everything is automated.

This paper presents unique idea of a fully automated ticket vending machine, an embedded system, which makes the process of ticket procurement a hassle free job and thereby decreases the burden of a patient clerk who sits in the counter for issuing tickets.

Embedded Systems : Automation Of Cars

Abstract: The technical Brilliance and Developments in different fields has led to a drastic change especially in the communication field. Devices with intelligence rule the world. Imbibing intelligence to these devices is through a system called “EMBEDDED SYSTEMS”. It is the evolution or further development of the computing system. Its applications provide marvelous opportunities for ingenious use of computer technology. Almost every new system introduced is an example of Embedded System. These systems are more intelligent and autonomous.

Embedded Systems are combinations of hardware and software that are mounted on compact electronic circuit boards integrated into devices. They are engineered or intended to perform one specific function in a specific environment. An important decision in the design of an embedded system is the selection of the processor(s) around which the rest of the system is to be built. It is a chip that contains a microprocessor, some memory & I/O interface circuitry useful in embedded applications and is often called an ‘EMBEDDED PROCESSOR’ or ‘MICRO CONTROLLER’ chips as they perform important control functions, and are based on micro controller. The current topic “Automation of car” that we are going to present is one of the fine examples of Embedded System.

Heart Failure Alert System using RFID And GPS

Abstract: Now-a-days the deaths caused due to the heart failure have been of major concern .The majority of the deaths caused by heart failures are due to the lack of medical assistance in time. This paper gives an insight of a new technology that relates directly to the exploding wireless marketplace. This technology is a whole new wireless and RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) enabled frontier in which a victim’s actual location is integral for providing valuable medical services.

The paper will be demonstrating for the first time
ever the usage of wireless telecommunications systems and miniature sensor devices like RFID passive Tags , that are smaller than a grain of rice and equipped with a tiny antenna which will capture and wirelessly transmit a person's vital body-function data, such as pulse or body temperature , to an integrated ground station. In addition, the antenna will also receive information regarding the location of the individual from the GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) System. Both sets of data medical information and location will then be wirelessly transmitted to the ground station and made available to save lives by remotely monitoring the medical conditions of at-risk patients and providing emergency rescue units with the person's exact location.

This paper gives a predicted general model for Heart Failure Alert System. It also discusses the Algorithm for converting the Analog pulse to Binary data in the tag and the Algorithm for alerting the Location & Tracking Station. It discusses in detail the various stages involved in tracking the exact location of the Victim using this technology
